Francisco (Pancho) Massiani (Caracas, 1944) is a writer, painter and sketcher. Among his literary works we can find the bestseller Piedra de Mar (1968), Los diez mandamientos de Misterdoc Fonegal (1976), and the short-story collections Las primeras hojas de la noche (1970), El llanero solitario tiene la cabeza pelada como un cepillo de dientes (1975) and Con agua en la piel (1998). His works have been awarded with several prizes, such as the Premio Municipal de Prosa (1996), Premio Municipal de Petare, first prize of the II Literary Contest Madre Perla (1979) and the prestigious National Award for Literature 2012 (Venezuela). This is the second edition of Florencio y los pajaritos de Angelina, su mujer (2006), which won the V Annual Contest of the “Fundación para la cultura urbana”.
